Bringing Draft Gods to the Mobile Arena
Draft Gods was a project aimed at leveraging the SMITE IP to break into the mobile games market. This project marked a major shift in my career, as I transitioned from roles focused on analysis, community, and tournament management to more senior level responsibilities. I was tasked with leading the overall strategy for Draft Gods, from store design, go-to-market, and monetization.
Stepping into uncharted territory, I dove into the world of mobile gaming, doing even more. I directed my first trailer, built out our app store presence, and wrote our marketing copy on top of that. This project was an opportunity to master new skills on top of design, marketing, and user acquisition strategy.
From Novice to Expert
The project ultimately was shelved due to retention issues (game development is hard) but I did succeed in other ways. I drove a 54% increase in app store CVR through Splitmetrics, reached 324k users globally and led the game’s market launch. I was overseeing everything from trailer production to implementing a full-scale attribution platform into the game.
This project expanded my skill set and solidified my ability to drive a full-scale mobile game to market, with full creative control over the copy and marketing assets, making Draft Gods a keystone in my career.
