Barking Up the Right Tree: Building a Fun College Brand with Sundog

Sundog was born while I was taking photos of my dog, Ruby, one morning at The University of Georgia. Ruby was a campus celebrity, so I thought to turn her popularity into a fun side hustle. The goal was to create a lighthearted brand featuring her very expressive face and sell t-shirts at house parties to make some extra money. I designed the shirts myself and brought a box of them to spring parties in Athens, GA.  To fund the project, I worked as an Uber driver and bartender, determined to bring my vision to life. Armed with no formal design or Photoshop experience, I crafted the designs and worked with a local t-shirt company to produce the final product.

Turning Heads and a Profit:

The t-shirts were a hit! I sold all of the merchandise and profited over $1,000. The photos and memories were priceless. What started as a fun idea turned into a little movement, and showed me that with a bit of creativity and agency, I could have fun and make a little cash on the side. Sundog became a unique and memorable part of my college experience, and inspired me to take a more creative career path.
